The U.S. Under-20 Women’s World Cup advanced to the semifinal of the 2016 FIFA. The U.S. defeated Mexico, the game took place at Papua New Guinea. Monica joining team Mexico and her sister Sabrina team U.S.A.
Regardless of the result was surprising to see that the twin sisters chose to play for different national teams. Both having dual citizenship were able to defend both countries.
The twin sisters were born in Livingston, New Jersey, January 31st,1996 to a Mexican father and American mother. They are both currently studying medicine at the University of Notre Dame.
With all the economic and political situation between the two countries, soccer could become an important part of keeping the U.S. and Mexico relationship strong.
Monica and Sabrina are a great example that family love has no borders.
